Late February on Lake St. Clair, Perch will often form very large congregations getting for the coming spawn.
Recording blind, I feel a bite, guessing it to be a small fish I let slack in the line hoping it spits the hook and that a bigger fish will come along.
I am not sure where this portly perch would fit any more food.
Fishing in 5-6 feet of water, I position the camera inches below the ice, luring some Yellow Perch into view.
Casting from a boat with a 1/32oz jig tied with a small amount of squirrel hair, fast movements got these perch interested and a short pause triggered the strike.
