Mid-Winter, through the ice on Lake St. Clair, I drop the camera into a pile of Carp and Freshwater Drum. In this area I was also able to record many Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Pike, and several Muskie
Most often I find groups of fish continuously swimming back and forth through an area but occasionally I will record them stationary. Usually, I have noticed this to occur in an area with structure or with current and with both of these variables present you might just have a great spot!
Generally, when I have recorded groups of fish during the cold water periods, they tend to be in continuous movement, swimming together back and forth through the same small area. Bluegill, Sunfish, Rockbass, Largemouth Bass and Crappie can often be found hanging in close proximity to each other.
This Northern Pike takes interest in the camera as it swims suspended through the water in search of a meal.
We are not the only ones who enjoy perch for dinner!
